2007 Providence Youth Ministry Program Highlights Min. Rob Hughes, Youth Pastor
Nursery
6 months - 5 years old Child care offered during the 10:40 AM
Worship Service.
Children’s Church
K — 5th grades An Age-appropriate music and activities worship
service.
Brother II Brother
Males 6th-12th grades.
This ministry is designed to assist in the transition from boyhood
to manhood. Encourages young males through networking, fellowship
and spiritual growth. 1st & 3rd Mondays at 7:00 PM in The Den.
Sister II Sister
Females 6th—12th grades. This ministry is to encourage, support and
enrich the lives of young girls through mentoring, fellowship,
community service and spiritual development. Meetings: 1st & 3rd
Mondays at 7:00 PM in the Dan Davis Room.
Shekinah
Youth Chapel 6th Grade & Up
A high-energy worship experience with topics, songs and concerns
that related directly to the everyday needs of today’s youth.
Youth Group
13—18 years old
Activities include mentoring, the Youth Bowl and group outings.
Meetings: 2nd Mondays
Men
The Brotherhood
Designed to develop fellowship, leadership development and
comradeship among men. Meetings: 2nd Monday after 1st Sunday
Men’s Ministry
meets the perceived needs that men traditionally encounter
throughout society and the church by creating a spiritual learning
environment in which they can mature personally and spiritually.
Meetings: Mondays 7:00 PM
Ministry of Presence [M.O.P.’S]
Provides presence and security during public church services and
functions. On Duty on Sundays and as needed.

Women

Deaconess Board
To help enrich the spiritual life, support the programs and ministries and administer to the needs of the Church members.
Monthly – Saturday before the 1st Sunday - Sis. Florene Harris, President

Club
Promotes Christian women working together for spiritual
fulfillment through service to the Church.
Meetings: 4th

The Matrons
Promotes the Christian missionary work of Providence by
contributing to the cultural and social uplift of the community.

Women’s Ministry
An intergenerational forum dedicated to study of The Holy Word
as it addresses the issues/concerns relevant to women . Meetings:

Singles
Singles’ Ministry / Fellowship
Provides opportunity for individuals who are single to
fellowship and develop support networks. 4th Sundays
Couples
Communication Class
To provide an atmosphere where techniques can be learned on how
couples may have honest, open, sensitive dialogue.
10 Week Class—Wednesdays As Announced
Senior Adults
Senior
Adult Ministry
Encourages Senior Adults to be totally involved in the
Providence vision: spiritually, emotionally, physically, through
activities that entertain, educate and stimulate. Meetings: 2nd
Wednesdays
Young At Heart
Seeks members who have reached the glorious age of 55 years or
older, and provide a program of personal , social, spiritual and
moral needs. Meetings: 2nd Saturdays

Church Wide
Birth
Months Club
Fosters positive relationships designed to enhance spiritual
growth and development among Church members sharing a common birth
month. Meetings: 3rd Thursdays
Food & Kitchen Ministry
Provides hot breakfast each Sunday for visitors and members as
well as assisting various ministries with food for Church
activities. Operates on Sunday mornings 9:00 AM
Health Ministry
Promotes spiritual and physical health as
well as overall well being. Meetings: 1st Tuesdays
International & Domestic Missions
Encourage personal contact between
missionaries and Church members through fellowship, seminars,
festivals, and short term trips. Meetings: 1st & 3rd Sundays
L.G. Simpson Usher Board
7—18 Years Old Meet, greet and give
assistance to worshippers. On duty 4th & 5th Sundays.
Media Library
Offer printed and non-printed materials
for individual and collective spiritual growth. Library is open each
Sunday following the 10:40 AM Worship Service. Monthly meetings as
announced.
New Member Orientation Committee
Orientates new members to the teachings and organization of the
Church. Meetings as scheduled.
Outreach/Evangelism
Provides leadership for the Outreach/Evangelism efforts of the
Church. Meetings: 3rd Wednesdays at 6:00 PM Room 204
Publicity & Marketing
Develops marketing materials, public service announcements for
mass media for various Church activities. Meets as needed.
Senior Ushers
Meet, greet and seat all who come into this House of Worship On
Duty—1st & 3rd Sundays
Transportation Ministry
Provides transportation to and from Church Services and Church
meetings. Please contact the Church Office by Noon on Wednesday for
Sunday pick-up.
Walter R. McCall Usher Board
Doorkeepers in the House of the Lord. Meetings: Bi-monthly as
scheduled.
On Duty 2nd Sunday each month

Outreach
Arts Ministry
Enhances the spirituality of the worship
experience through artistic presentation. Brings professional
theater [community] to the Southwest Atlanta area by sponsoring the
Annual Tent Theater and seasonal productions. Meetings: As Needed
Clothing Ministry
Assist those in need by meeting clothing
needs. Drop-offs: 1st Saturdays 10 AM—12 Noon. Pick Up Fridays &
Saturdays 10 AM—12 Noon.
Food Distribution Ministry
Friday Food Boxes provide assistance to needy families or
individuals on an emergency basis. Special emphasis is given to
Senior Citizens on fixed income, the elderly, displaced, working
poor, those living with HIV/AIDS and homeless persons.
Vision Food Share
builds on community support via a food co-op program that
enables the purchase of boxes of food at a reduced rate.
The Apprenticeship Program [T.A.P.]
A job readiness training program that gives individuals an
opportunity to change their lives. The program covers such areas as

Twelve Step Program
Provides a support group for men and women who are dealing with
addiction and find themselves in transition. Participants meet
weekly to dialogue about successes and issues relative to the
disease of addiction. Meetings: Tuesdays 7:00 P.M.
